Space, the free-to-play frontier

DSF: Galaxy Wars is another social, timer-restricted, free-to-play, strategy game.

Despite the strong design of its gritty interstellar future DSF, makes a poor first impression. Its tutorial and starting goals force you down an unimaginative path of tapping through menus that teach you nothing - patiently waiting for the game to reveal more interesting systems.

The depth does finally come, as you trade with and attack other players, but there are a lot of unexplained mechanics to wade through.

PROS

  • Nice sci-fi style
  • A good range of systems once you are into it

CONS

  • Long, dull opening
  • Poor explanation of more advanced strategies
